Helios Behind Another Winning Bid - Kazan To Host 2015 FINA World Championships

SHANGHAI, 19 JULY 2011 - Kazan, Russia has been awarded the right to host the 2015 FINA World Championships with the help of Helios Partners. As the international governing body of aquatics, FINA's premier event consists of World Championships in Swimming, Synchronized Swimming, Diving, Water Polo and Open Water Swimming.

Helios was hired by Kazan 2015/2017, the bid committee for this effort, to assist with the preparation of their final presentation to the FINA Bureau, FINA's executive board. Presentations were given on Friday, 15 July in Shanghai, China, in advance of the start of the 2011 FINA World Championships. The announcement was made at 13:00 local time and Kazan signed the Host City Contract immediately afterwards.

Vladimir Leonov, CEO of Kazan 2015, said, "Helios was integral to our Final Presentation planning from concept to delivery. We wanted to finish our bid on the strongest note possible and, having worked with Helios on Kazan 2013, we knew that they could deliver."

"Kazan had an exceptional technical bid for the 2015 edition of the FINA World Championships, and their goal was to impress the benefits of this plan upon the FINA voters," said Terrence Burns, President of Helios Partners. "We took what was already a great product, their technical bid, and built upon the work of Vladimir and his team."

Most recently, Helios assisted PyeongChang, South Korea, in their successful bid for the 2018 Olympic Winter Games, which was announced in Durban, South Africa at the IOC Congress on 6 July, thus

cementing its reputation as the premier agency working with bids today. Helios has assisted successful Olympic bids such as Sochi 2014, Vancouver 2010, Beijing 2008, Golf's bid to be added to the Olympic Program, and Kazan's bid to host the 2013 World University Games. They are also working with ESPN on the X Games, in support of the global expansion of the franchise.

With offices in Atlanta, Beijing, London, Paris and Rio de Janeiro, Helios delivers a broad array of sports consulting services to a range of global corporate sponsors, sports property rights holders, and cities and nations seeking to host major international sports events.
